"PATRIOTS GO 16-0 BEATING GIANTS 38-35"

By Barry Wilner

With one mighty heave, Tom Brady and Randy Moss took care of the record books. Now it's down to business for the unbeaten New England Patriots: stamping themselves as the greatest team in NFL history.

The Patriots completed a perfect if somewhat joyless journey through the regular season Saturday night, finishing with a remarkable 16-0 record following a thrilling 38-35 comeback victory over the New York Giants.

New England became the first NFL team since the 1972 Dolphins to win every game on the schedule, and that one was only 14-0. This victory required a comeback from a 12-point deficit engineered by the brilliant Brady, and smashed the Patriots' league mark for consecutive victories.

"Going undefeated during the regular season is a remarkable achievement," 1972 Dolphins coach Don Shula said. "I know firsthand how difficult it is to win every game, and just as we did in 1972, the Patriots have done a great job concentrating on each week's opponent and not letting any other distractions interrupt that focus. If they go on to complete an undefeated season, I will be the first to congratulate Coach Belichick and the Patriot organization."(continue)

"BELOW THE HEAVENS BY BLU & EXILE LOOKING TO BE A HOT ALBUM"

One album that's a sure banger throughout the underground community right now has to be the Blu & Exile album Below the Heavens and it should be. I got the album at the end of last month after all the hype and checked it out. I was expecting some crazy beats and even crazier flows, but when I listened to the album all I heard was this guy who kind of looked like Ludacris spitting on some alright beats with a sh!tload of scratching. My rating would not even have been 3 stars.

I set the album aside and listened to some other stuff and recently I listened to the album again and my opinion flipped completely. Now this lyricist has some flow and the beats are so mellow and chill that I couldn't help but to dim the lights, sit back, and vibe out to them. Blu's flow is amazing and different, I never have heard anything like it and it reminded me of all the hype Mike Jones got when he first came out because of his different flow, even though Mike Jones sucks.

I was familiar with Exile from his album last year, Dirty Science, which had the tracks "Time Has Come" with Slum Village and "Tell You" featuring Blu and Aloe Blacc. I thought the album was bad at first because I was expecting too much but now that I listened to it again with an open mind I would say it is definitely one of the best albums of 2007 by far. I think Blu & Exile and Cunninglyguists had the best album this year as far as underground rap goes. The album is definitely worth checking out and copping. Blu & Exile are putting L.A. back on the map for underground rap and they should definitely keep it up.

"FOUL PLAY RULED OUT IN PIMP C'S DEATH"

The LA coroner’s office should be able to determine the cause of Pimp C’s sudden death at a Hollywood hotel earlier this month within the next two weeks. According to Port Arthur’s KBTV Channel 4, investigators have ruled out foul play in the mysterious death of the 33 year-old veteran MC. Pimp’s body was discovered in his room at the Mondrian Hotel on Sunset Blvd. on December 4 after family members became worried when they hadn’t heard from him and notified the hotel’s staff. "NAS BRINGS MARY MARL AND BUSTA RHYMES FOR NY CONCERT"

By Shaheem Reid of MTV News

NEW YORK — Nas in New York equals special. That's the belief of every fan of Nasir Jones who has been faithfully riding with him since he was a 16-year-old MC rhyming about getting into a physical confrontation with the original God's son, Jesus.

Nas doesn't perform in his hometown that often. The most memorable show he did here in recent years was in summer 2004 in Central Park. At the free park jam, he tore off the proverbial roof — well, not really; it was outdoors, after all — brought out Mobb Deep, demeaned the G-Unit and the Diplomats, and performed selections from his coveted catalog.

On Wednesday night, Nas played his second rare show at a major venue in NYC in recent weeks. He performed at the Hammerstein Ballroom, which is smaller than the venue he played several weeks ago, the Roseland Ballroom.

"I'm hyped right now," the usually laid-back MC told MTV News backstage approximately an hour before showtime. He was itching to get onstage, especially since he was trying a couple of new additions to his show: a small live band, and legendary producer Marley Marl backing him as the show DJ.

"We've been practicing out in California," Marley — showing no sign of having suffered a heart attack earlier this year — said as he waited to get behind the ones and twos.

As showtime grew closer, Nas revealed he wanted to do a very short run of venues across the country — he's performing New Year's Eve in L.A. — because he did not put out an album this year as promised. He didn't want to leave his fans with nothing. (continue)

"RAZ-B MISSING?"

By Aliya Ewing of HipHopDX

After former B2K member Raz-B recanted his allegations that their former manager Chris Stokes molested them, Stokes released a statement Thursday (December 27):

"I'm happy that DeMario 'Raz-B' Thornton and Ricardo Thornton realized their mistakes and admitted to lying," he said, although Ricardo Thornton is still vehemently standing by his original claims. "I have always supported my family and have always been a stand-up person. I knew that the truth would eventually come to light."

"I'm not gay. And I'm married. And I have four kids. I been with my wife for 16 years," Stokes told MTV News. "And I'm not a child molester. So those are all false allegations. I'm gonna sue them. And I owe that to my wife and kids, period. It's ridiculous."

However, the fiasco hasn't ended quite yet. After MTV reported on the apology, Ricardo told MTV News that even with Stokes' threats of legal action he still stands by all the allegations of molestation. He also said he hasn't spoken to his younger brother in two days — which he said was highly unusual for them — feeding fuel to the numerous rumors that Raz has been abducted or otherwise harmed by Stokes' henchmen in an attempt to silence him. Ricardo also told MTV that Raz will "come back around" in his views, suggesting that the apology might have been forced against his will.(continue)

"BLOCK ENTERTAINMENT DROPPED FROM ATLANTIC?"

By Allen Jacobs of HipHopDX

Although no confirmation has been given, reports are in that Atlantic Records has reportedly dropped its backing and distribution for the Atlanta-based Block Entertainment.

The company, run by Russell "Block" Spencer, took to the mainstream in 2004 with its affiliation with Bad Boy Records in releasing an album from the group Boyz N' Da Hood, introducing many listeners to Young Jeezy. After the star segued into a solo deal with Def Jam, the label replaced Jeezy in the group with Gorilla Zoe.

The imprint found success in 2006 with Yung Joc's New Joc City, backed by the hit-single "It's Going Down." This year, after slumped sales from Yung Joc's Hustlenomic$ follow-up and a sophomore release from Boyz N' Da Hood, Block Entertainment appeared to have a difficult year. Despite success from Gorilla Zoe's "Hood Nigga," the label failed to match previous chart success.(continue)

By Dell of AllHipHop

Years after being romantically linked with hip-hop's queen bee, the ex-boyfriend of Lil' Kim, Damion "World" Hardy, may face the death penalty if convicted of ordering the execution of a rival.

According to New York's Daily News reports, the U.S. Justice Department decided Brooklyn prosecutors should seek the death penalty against Hardy and alleged hit man Eric "E-Bay" Moore.

Hardy is believed to be the leader of the Cash Money Brothers (CMB) drug crew. As SOHH previously reported,
Hardy was indicted in 2005 on charges of alleged drug dealing as well as ordering the murder of rival Ivory "Peanut" Davis.

Prosecutors say Hardy ordered Moore to carry out the Aug.10, 2000 shooting of Davis, who was struck twice by bullets while sitting outside SoHo nightspot ClubNV at Hudson and Spring Streets.
